Lina Ortega wins by nearly two-thirds in District 77

A new face will represent El Paso in Austin.

Evelina “Lina” Ortega got about 70 percent of the vote against Adolfo Lopez in the Democratic primary for State Rep. District 77, which covers West El Paso.

Ortega will fill the seat being left vacant by State Rep. Marisa Marquez.

In District 76, state Rep. Cesar Blanco, the incumbent, ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, and there is no Republican challenger.

In District 78, incumbent Joe Moody ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. Challenger Jeffrey Lane, ran unopposed in the Republican primary.

In District 79, state Rep. Joe Pickett the incumbent, ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, and there is no Republican challenger.

Evelina “Lina” Ortega — 6,907 — %69.22

Adolfo Lopez — 3,071 — %30.78
