isd is partnering with nike for all its athletic gear. yisd announced the five year deal with nike and sports apparel company, bsn, in a news conference today. it’s the first partnership of its kind in west texas. the deal will provide the district with discounts on nike products for middle and high schools, by as much as 40%–saving the district at least one million dollars: sot full “while many of our students and student athletes come from modest means, they deserve access to same quality of any student and we want to guarantee that experience.” the district is still in the development stage of designing uniforms. by fall, some schools will use new nike gear. current uniforms that are in good condition will be used for at least the next 2-3 years. and joing us now is y-i-s-d superintendent xavier de la torre. our students the same opportunity as students in the state and around the nation. time now for a preview of abc-7 at 5
