Firefighters respond to house fire

Update: Firefighters respond to a fire on the 700 block of Upson Drive around 5 p.m.

Crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of a three-story house.

Firefighters began fighting the fire and searching for residents. The people living in the house had already self-evacuated.

There were no injuries to residents or firefighters. Damage is estimated at $1,000.

The cause of and origin of the fire is under investigation.

Original story:El Paso firefighters was called out to extinguish a fire at an apartment complex in the 700 block of Upson around 5 p.m. Sunday.

A fire department spokesperson said the structure fire started on the outside of the apartment complex.

No injuries were reported and the total damage was being assessed.
