Deadly rollover in Chaparral kills teenager; speed, alcohol reportedly a factor

Doa Ana County Sheriff’s deputies and a crash reconstruction team are investigating a single-vehicle rollover in Chaparral that killed an 18-year-old man.

At around 2 a.m. Friday, a call to 911 alerted deputies to the 400 block of Mesilla View Drive. When they arrived, Juan Solis was under the vehicle he had allegedly been driving. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After further investigation, deputies determined Solis had been in an argument with his girlfriend prior to allegedly taking her vehicle.

Speed and alcohol reportedly contributed to the crash.
