Las Cruces man says false assault accusations tarnished his reputation

A Las Cruces man wants his name cleared after charges that he sexually assaulted two young girls were dropped.

According to court documents, Las Cruces Police arrested Anthony Bramblett in June after he was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl. While in custody, he was charged with seven additional sexual assault charges.

Bramblett says his accusers recanted their story soon after, but it wasn’t until a week ago all charges were finally dropped.

Court documents state the charges were dismissed: “due to a substantial change in the nature of the evidence that the State could produce a trial, and it is the best interest of justice.”

Bramblett says he spent two months in prison after the arrest, then bailed out. He says the arrest tarnished his reputation. He also struggled to find a job.
