Estela’s Escuela’s: Kids make quilts for young patients

patients at providence’s children’s hospital will get to do just that. in today’s estela’s escuelas … a special delivery. 6-th gaders from gadsden elementary made quilts for the young cancer patients. they’re actually quillows — quilts that fold into pillows. they made them as part of operation allan. allan was a former gadsden student who lost a 15-month battle to brain cancer. and younger students also pitched in. they provided the reading material. “the 5th grade and fourth graders we summarized books and we turned them into short summaries for when the children don’t have enough strength to get through a whole book. they can read the summarized ” students were able to make the quilts and buy books with help from the community, which donated and sponsored operation allan. students have been collecting clothes
