EPPD identify man killed in crash on Montana

El Paso Police have identified the man killed in a car crash in east El Paso.

This happened Wednesday around 4 p.m. on the 11000 block of Montana.

Police said 57-year-old Jesus Ponce was traveling north on Oasis approaching Montana in a Pontiac Grand AM. At the same time, a 2004 GMC Yukon being driven by Juan Acevedo, 36, was traveling east of Montana. The Pontiac tried to cross the eastbound lanes of Montana into the path of the GMC, causing the crash.

Ponce was pronounced dead on scene.

There were no other injuries reported to the driver or two passengers of the GMC.

There are no charges pending at this time. This is the 22nd fatality of 2016 compared to 13 in 2015.
