Chihuahuas fall to Reno, 8-0, in season opener
RENO, Nev. – The Reno Aces scored five early runs in their 8-0 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas on Opening NightThursday. It was the firsttime in the Chihuahuas’ three-year history that the team lost the first game of the season.
Reno took a 1-0 lead on a first inning wild pitch by El Paso’s Jeremy Guthrie and added four more tallies in the second in a nine-batter rally that included four hits and two El Paso errors. Guthrie allowed five runs, three earned, in three innings of work in his first game in the Padres’ organization.
The Aces scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run by catcher Tuffy Gosewisch and a two-run homer by shortstop Jack Reinheimer to go ahead 8-0.
