southern new mexico and west texas today and this evening bringing scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms to the borderland. westerly winds will result in warmer dry weather on saturday before another upper trough with a weak cold front causes windy conditions with isolated rain showers on sunday followed by cooler dry weather on monday. to round the clock coverage… firefighters put out a blaze in west central el paso overnight. it happened around 11- 30 at the intersection of paisano and ruhlen. this is video from the scene, near the old mc-kinney wrecking site. the fire department reports no injuries. now to the latest in the race for the white house…. the candidates are campaigning in new york ahead of the next presidential primary. hillary clinton taking the subway and greeting the public while bernie sanders strolls down midtown manhattan…greeting fellow brooklyn- ites. after the new york primary – only 3 large states are left to vote… california, new jersey and pennsylvania… sanders needs to win all 4 with large margins to catch up. on the gop side – donald trump making sure his fellow new yorkers don’t forget ted cruz’ comments about “new york values months ago. and ted cruz trying to get past that..and making the rounds across the state. a leak in the keystone pipeline is apparently worse than first thought. trans-canada now says it appears nearly 17-thousand gallons of oil have leaked in south dakota. at first, officials said less than 2-hundred gallons were spilled. the leak was found on saturday and it caused a key part of the pipeline to be turned off. trans-canada says the leak has been “controlled” although they hav yet to find the source of the leak. they say they are also fully cooperating with regulatory agencies. new this morning– a group of migrants and refugees living in camps on the greek island of lesbos are being deported to turkey this morning, under a controversial european union deal. forty-five pakistani men had their documents checked and boarded the ferry bound for turkey. during the deportation a small group of protesters demonstrated at the lesbos port fence and three of them managed to jump into the sea and swim to the ferry. the protesters were removed from the water by police and the ferry carrying the migrants left shortly after. a first-year u-t dance student was murdered — and police are now searching for a man seen near the heart of campus, where her body was found. the campus president identified the victim yesterday as 18-year-old haruka weiser from portland, oregon. austin police say weiser was seen leaving u-t’s drama building around 9:30 p.m. sunday. she never made it back to her dorm. investigators released surveillance video of a man they say is a suspect – walking with a bike, sunday night along a nearby street. police would only say that weiser was assaulted. no other details have been released. weiser was reported missing monday, and her body was found the following day in a creek near the alumni center and football stadium. new this morning– several people were run down by an angry bull on a busy north texas highway earlier this week… “when i first noticed him h didn’t know if he was going to charge me or not but as soon as he started running towards me i know that he meant business.” the animal was recently purchased at an auction when its owners were taking it to the vet clinic for a checkup. that’s when it jumped over the trailer while being unloaded. the highway had to be shut down because the bull ran through traffic at least three times. a total of six people were hurt. you can see him charging this man and knocking him over before scaling the fence. animal control officers ended up shooting the animal because it was a danger to people in the area. / sentencing will now begin for ross flynn. he’s the man who las cruces police beaten in a holding cell while handcuffed. after 5 hours of deliberation, the jury only found flynn guilty of refusing to comply with officers. he now faces up to one year behind bars. he was possibly facing 3 and a half. in closing arguments the prosecution said ross flynn intentionally tried to intimidate a woman when he knocked on her door holding a gun. that woman called police. the defense argued flynn never pointed the gun at her and the neighbor exaggerated the entire situation. we spoke with flynn afterwards who was satisfied with the decision . / ross flynn :16;27;55 resonable fair decision i still deny that i resisted arrest and did every command i could hear and understand but as things to i accept the judges decision and i’m good with it the prosecution says they’re a little bit disappointed but they respect the jury’s decision. / meanwhile… investigators are trying to figure out the identity of a man found in a canal yesterday. the body was pulled from the canal in south central el paso. el paso police tell abc-7 they now have custody of the body which they only could identify as male. the el paso fire department says his body was wedged in the headgate so crews had to open the gate andet his body down stream. new mexico and west texas today and this evening bringing scattered officials say it starts with education. the first initiative they are promoting– breastfeeding. visitors and employees are now allowed to breastfeed on-site at anytime. through out the hospital you can see signs where mothers are accommodated to breastfeed. there are designated rooms with sinks, water and soaps. a hospital must go through four phases in order to get accredited. beaumont is in phase three– their policies are in place– major juliana luciano says now its about educating employees and mothers: “we have started at the pre-natal levels …breast is best” the hospital expects to
