ABC-7 Listens 04.09.16

heads over why the chihuahuas exhibition game versus their parent team the padres was called a sellout. it didn’t look like it to them. a closer look at the possible reasons in abc-seven listens… the chihuahuas exhibition game versus the san diego padres was a huge hit. but one thing in particular had some fans feeling like they struck out. rick cabrera explains in abc-7 listens. it’s a big deal when a big league team visits el paso … hadn’t happened in 13 years. that’s also why it wasn’t a surprise to hear the game was sold out. from christine … “question: this is a sold out san diego/chihuahuas game??? “how come so many empty seats?? “it’s a shame people can’t go who really want to but can’t.” along with christine i got a voicemail from a viewer upset with k-v-i-a … for reporting the game was sold out when it didn’t appear to be. first things first … we don’t have access to the ticket information. it was this news release from the chihuahuas that said the game was sold out. but let’s talk about those empty seats … because we saw them, too. keep in mind … during a game people are up getting food, buying chihuahuas gear, maybe taking pictures around the park … so you will never see every seat filled. still — i reached out to chihuahuas general brad taylor. he reminded me that many people prefer to watch the game in the west star bank club and it was awfully windy and chilly that day. also, this wasn’t a typical game. taylor told me this was quote … “the only game we’ve ever stopped selling tickets for and have actually never stopped selling tickets for a regular season game. “w did this time because we didn’t want to overwhelm the building on day one and we were concerned about it impacting the experience.” lastly, the usual ticket exchange program … which allows season ticket holders to turn in and exchange their tickets 48 hours prior to a game … so they can be re-sold … wasn’t in effect for the exhibition game. so if you bought a ticket, decided it was too cold or your plans changed … you didn’t have a lot of options. rick cabrera. abc-7 listens. getting to your stormtrack weather now! let’s get your first forecast with stormtracker iris
