Chihuahuas beat Tacoma for second straight win
EL PASO, Texas – The El Paso Chihuahuas defeated the Tacoma Rainiers 7-5 Friday to split the four-game series and split their eight-game homestand. Manuel Margot reached base four times atop the Chihuahuas’ batting order on Friday, going 3-for-3 with three singles, a walk, a stolen base and an RBI.
After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, the Chihuahuas scored the game’s next six runs, with a four-run, five-hit rally in the third and a two-run home run by Hunter Renfroe in the fifth. It was Renfroe’s second home run in as many nights. Renfroe went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and was 12-for-28 on the homestand to push his batting average to .308.
El Paso turned four double plays in a five-inning span on Friday. Thirteen of the last 14 Chihuahuas’ relief appearances have been scoreless outings. The Chihuahuas’ three most recent games were 2:28 or shorter in time.
