Burges grad Keandre Bates falls short at Olympic qualifiers

Burges graduate and current Florida Gator, Keandre Bates, had a legitimate shot at making it to the summer Olympics for the long jump.

Bates cruised into the finals at the Olympic qualifiers Sunday, but fell short as he placed 6th with a long jump of 27 3 3/4 feet.

Only the top 3 qualify for Rio, but still a tremendous season from a local high school athlete now representing El Paso at the national stage.
