Wishes for Santa

With Christmas around the corner many head out for the time-honored tradition of taking a picture with Santa Claus.

ABC-7 asked Santa about the latest trends and also those heartfelt wishes that mean so much more than a gift.

Everyone knows when you hear that Ho! Ho! Ho! Christmas is around the corner.

Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick readily takes wishes for toys and gifts many have been waiting for all year.

“Santa Claus brings joy and magic to children and families at Christmas time,” Santa said.

For some it can be magical, many even writing letters months in advance with pictures and letters hinting at what they’d like under the tree

“The girls list is My Little Pony, Barbies, American Girl dolls, and Hatchimals,” Santa said.

Sometimes it can be overwhelming for the young ones.

“I want ponies and I want uhhh….,” said one little undecided girl.

As for the boys, Santa says it get a little more tech-y.

“Drone with a camera, Playstation 4, Xbox,” Santa said as he went down the list.

For others the trip to take a picture with the jolly man can be downright scary and unwanted but Santa himself has to pause and think about how the visit can mean so much.

“Especially for families that might not bring joy and happiness other ways,” Santa said.

Some wishes aren’t for toys. Santa tells ABC-7 about a young girl who’s father was deployed and badly injured by an improvised explosive device.

“She had asked that his pain be relieved because he was always hurting,” Santa told ABC-7.

Santa tells ABC-7 he knows just how important his job is.

“It’s really neat to be able to provide a joyful moment and we can bring some magic into their hearts and share the love and joy of Christmas,” Santa said.
