UTEP Women set for Battle of I-10 versus NMSU

While the UTEP Miners may be just 2-6 on the young season, they do have the NMSU Aggies number when it comes to head-to-head matchups. The Miners will hope to capitalize yet again Thursday night in the Battle of I-10.

The Miners have won five straight vs. NMSU and eight of the last nine to help stand at 15-5 since 2005-06. The five consecutive wins are the most since a seven-contest surge by UTEP ( 11/22/05 – 11/20/08 ).

But it may be a different result when the Aggies will visit the Don for the sole time this season boasting a 6-3 record. UTEP Head Coach Keitha Adams said she is ready for the challenge Thursday night.

“They have several that can shoot it and score,” Adams said. “So we are going to have to play great defense, guard the ball and have our quick shoes on. Because they got some speed, so it’ll be a big game, big night and a big opportunity.”

Fans should arrive early for the unveiling of the 2016 Conference USA Regular-Season Championship banner and WNIT participant (advanced to quarterfinals) banner. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for kids and the first 3,000 fans will receive a foam finger.
