USA Today ranks UTEP basketball’s throwback jersey best in the nation

UTEP might not be able to compete with schools like UCLA, North Carolina, and Kansas on the court this season.

But the Miners do have something those teams don’t – the best throwback jersey in the country, according to USA Today.

The newspaper released its rankings of throwback jerseys and the Miners came out on top – beating out the aforementioned powerhouses and every other school in the country.

The “Texas Western” uniforms UTEP has been known to wear from time-to-time are “an excellent way to honor” the 1966 national championship, according to the paper.

Defending national champion Villanova came in second just behind the Miners in the rankings.

All nine teams ranked by the paper have won national titles.

No word yet as to whether the Miners will pull out their throwback uniforms for Saturday’s home contest against Northern Arizona.
