Organizers cancel 25th annual Navidad de La Fe Luminarias on Scenic Drive

Navidad De La Fe Luminarias was scheduled to happen at 6 p.m. Saturday along El Paso’s Scenic Drive, but due to the strong winds organizers canceled the event. A spokeswoman for the event tells us the sand-filled paper bags lit with candles would blow away and could not keep upright. Every year 4,000 luminarias are lit at nightfall. More than 100 Centro De Salud Familiar La Fe, Inc. staff members and volunteers work throughout the day to put together the holiday tradition. Organizers have not said if they will reschedule the event.
