Fire damage in mobile home fire estimated at $20,000
The fire that ravaged a mobile home in El Paso’s Lower Valley caused an estimated $20,000 in damage, fire officials said.
Firefighters said an electrical short originating in the kitchen area is to blame. The blaze erupted at about 2:40 a.m. on the 8400 block of Alameda.
Officials say firefighters arrived within five minutes and had the blaze contained shortly after 3 a.m. Fifty percent of the home was damaged.
A 19-year-old man suffered a minor injury. No firefighters were injured.

Fire officials sent the following message:
The El Paso Fire Department would like to remind the public that in less than 30 seconds, a small flame can get completely out of control and begin filling a home with thick, black, poisonous smoke. In just a few minutes, a home can become completely engulfed with flames. With the advance notice of a working smoke alarm, residents can escape with their lives.
