Police arrest sex offender who ran away from halfway house

El Paso Police officers arrested the sex offender who absconded from a halfway house near Horizon City on November 11,2016.

Kenneth Wayne Evans was arrested Wednesday morning on the 6300 block of Airport Road, according to a sheriff’s office spokeswoman.

Details of Evans’ arrest were not provided.

Investigators said Evans absconded from the El Paso Multi Use Facility located at 1700 Horizon. Evans had a scheduled medical appointment, but never arrived at the clinic and allegedly cut off his ankle monitor.

Evans, on parole, was convicted of “Aggravated Sexual Assault,” “Indecency with a Child/Contact,” and “Indecency with a Child/Exposure,” the sheriff’s said.

His victims were a six-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy.
