Police: Man in SWAT standoff threatens to kill wife, first responders

A man held his wife at gunpoint and threatened to kill her and anyone who responded to their home, police said.

Mitchell Clark Webb, 64, allegedly barricaded himself with his wife inside their home Sunday night on the 400 block of Granada in West El Paso.

The woman, 59-year old Maria Leticia Prieto, managed to lock herself inside a room before members the El Paso Police Department’s SWAT team pulled her to safety through a window, police said.

Negotiators eventually convinced Webb to surrender. He was charged with aggravated assault and family violence and booked into the El Paso County Jail with bond set at $50,000.

Prieto was treated for cuts she suffered when she was freed through a window.
