New Mexico State’s 20-game win streak over after loss at CSUB

You can’t win ’em all, but the Aggies sure took a good crack at it.

NMSU’s 20-game winning streak is now a thing of the past after a tough 72-53 loss at CSU Bakersfield on Thursday night.

NMSU was held to just 18 points in the first half and shot only 3-26 from downtown during the game, as they simply couldn’t generate the offense they usually do.

Ian Baker tried to rally the Aggies in the second half, but NMSU could not close the double-digit deficit. Baker scored all 19 of his points in the second half.

He was one of only two Aggies to score in double figures. Jemerrio Jones had 11 points and 16 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season.

In addition to the poor shooting from deep, the Aggies were held to 29.3% shooting from the field for the game.

The program record for consecutive wins is 21 – just one more than this year’s streak.

The Aggies are now 8-1 in WAC play with CSU Bakersfield just a half-game behind them at 7-1.

NMSU will next play at Grand Canyon on Saturday.
