Franklin girls basketball team advances to area round in playoffs

Fueled by Cierra Winter’s 14 points, the Franklin Cougars did what they have done nearly all season; win. The Cougars earned their bi-district title as they dominated Odessa Permian in Van Horn 63-31.

Franklin’s Katia Gallegos and Dixie Lanhart both scored 13 as they advanced to the area round and now improve 26-5 on the season.

Franklin will face Arlington Lamar (23-8) this weekend.
