UTEP stuns Rice with 8 point road win

Paul Thomas scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half, and UTEP led from start to finish for the first time this season in a 79-71 victory at Rice on Saturday night.

The Miners (11-15, 9-5 C-USA) maintained a share of third-place in the Conference USA standings. UTEP is tied with Old Dominion with four games remaining. The Monarchs will come to El Paso on March 2.

The Miners are now 9-2 in their past 11 games, and their 4 game road trip will continue against FAU Thursday, then FIU next Saturday.
