Gang Unit arrests suspect in IDK bar shooting

The police department’s gang unit arrested the man allegedly responsible for a shooting outside a Northeast El Paso Bar early Saturday.

On Tuesday, February 21, 2017, police pulled over a vehicle in the 2500 block of Hamilton. 22-year-old Luis Vasquez, a passenger in the vehicle, had an arrest warrant on three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Vasquez was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Marijuana. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail on bonds totaling $300,300.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed two groups got into an argument inside the IDK Bar.

The verbal altercation escalated in the parking lot, where Vasquez allegedly fired three rounds from a hangun.

One of the victims was struck by a bullet in the head. Police have not identified the victim or provided an update on his/her condition.
