NMSU Women’s basketball team falls short in NCAA tournament

It was one-and-done for the New Mexico State Aggies. The women’s basketball team got knocked out of the NCAA Women’s Tournament by the Stanford Cardinal by a final of 72-64. The first round match-up was played Saturday morning in Manhattan, Kansas.

The Aggies showed some heart and led for most of the way. At the half NMSU was up 38-31 and at the end of the 3rd quarter the Aggies were still on top by one point 52-51.

But The Cardinal are ranked 6th in the nation for a reason and in the 4th quarter they took back control. Stanford put up 24 points in the 4th, while the Aggies could only put up 15.

The loss for the Aggies snapped a 17 game win streak.
