Three El Paso soccer teams advance to next round of playoffs

A first round win in the playoffs in the Borderland will not only earn you a trip to the second round of the postseason, but also a bi-district championship. That was exactly the case for both the Andress girls, the Bel Air boys and the Burges girls on Saturday.

The Andress girls upset 18-2 Bel Air for a bi-district title, while the Bel Air boys shutout Austin 3-0 and the Burges girls advanced to the second round after beating Canutillo 2-1.

The Andress girls will play Amarillo in the second round, while the Bel Air boys will face Caprock from Amarillo and the Burges girls will have the toughest test of the season as they are set to play 28-0-1 Lubbock Monterey.
