Sunland Park kidnapping victim found alive, source says

6:00 PM UPDATE: A source with knowledge of the investigation tells ABC-7 the man kidnapped in Sunland Park Monday morning has been found in Fabens.

The victim is reportedly being interviewed by FBI agents, the source said.

Sunland Park police said three armed men broke into the home, assaulted the victim and his father, and kidnapped the victim at gunpoint.

ABC-7 has learned the FBI is now investigating the violent home invasion and kidnapping, believed to be “drug or gang-related.”

Relatives of the victim identified him as Samuel Garcia.

“I heard that they were hitting him and pushing him to the wall,” the victim’s sister, Francis Garcia, said. “When I came out [of my room] that’s when I saw people beating my brother.”

Francis tells ABC-7 she was threatened when she tried to leave her room. “The guy that was beating on my brother saw me and grabbed a gun and pointed it at me,” she said. “That’s when I went back into my room.”

Garcia was allegedly abducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday from a home on the 300 block of Poplar Court.

Investigators said the suspects were possibly driving a black Jeep Wrangler.
