Fire investigators look into blaze at Lower Valley lot

Lower Valley residents heard popping before discovering heavy smoke and flames on their property, fire officials said.

The El Paso Fire Department was called about 9:30 p.m. to the 1200 block of South Side Road in Socorro.

When crews arrived, they found found heavy smoke and flames coming from the lot. They said mobile structures, trees and vehicles were on fire.

The four residents of the property were able to evacuate safely.

The fire caused an estimated $15,000 worth of damage. The cause and origin of the fire have not been determined.
