5 alleged Bandidos gang members facing weapons charges

The police department’s Gang Unit arrested and charged five alleged members of the Bandidos with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

The arrests were made following a traffic stop on the 5000 block of Pershing shortly after 10pm Thursday.

Police said 35-year old Zachary Carrizal, 55-year old Terry Claunch, 35-year old Charles Newbold, and 37-year old Scott Stevens were operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. 24-year old Kaden Hall was driving a Dodge pickup.

All five men, traveling together, allegedly failed to signal their intent turn in the 4500 block of Montana and again at Gateway North and Pershing, police said.

The Gang Unit officers pulled the men over and they were allegedly found to be in possession of firearms.

Carrizal, accused of unlawful possession of a 357 Magnum, was jailed on a $7,500 bond.

Claunch was allegedly in unlawful possession of a 45 caliber and a 357 Magnum. He was jailed on a $15,000 bond.

Newbold was allegedly in unlawful possession of a Taurus 40. He was jailed on a $7,500 bond.

Stevens was allegedly in unlawful possession of a Rugar 45. He was jailed on a $7,500 bond.

Hall was allegedly in unlawful possession of a Bersa .380 and a Springfield 9mm. He was jailed on a $15,000 bond.

Police said all are confirmed Bandindos gang members.

According to the Texas Penal Code:

(a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or her person a handgun, illegal knife, or club if the person is not:

(1) on the person’s own premises or premises under the person’s control; or

(2) inside of or directly en route to a motor vehicle or watercraft that is owned by the person or under the person’s control.

(a-1) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or her person a handgun in a motor vehicle or watercraft that is owned by the person or under the person’s control at any time in which:

(1) the handgun is in plain view; or

(2) the person is:

(A) engaged in criminal activity, other than a Class C misdemeanor that is a violation of a law or ordinance regulating traffic or boating;

(B) prohibited by law from possessing a firearm; or

(C) a member of a criminal street gang
