County launches hotline to address sound concerns during Sun City Music Festival

The county is launching a hotline to help with sound concerns during Sun City Music Festival.

El Paso County Parks and Special Events will work with Sun City Music Festival organizers to maintain a hotline the festival. Officials say it will address “unintentional sound delivery” throughout the weekend.

Residents can call between 5 P.M. until 2 A.M. Callers will be asked to provide information such as the sound being heard and an address. This information will be used by the sound technicians to determine possible solutions. Residents can call the hotline at (915) 771-2380.

Several residents living near Ascarate Park tell ABC-7 they don’t have issues with the amount of sound and feel it’s acceptable considering the revenue the festival brings.Other residents including Alice Jordan say they’ve had issues ever since the festival has been held at Ascarate Park.

“The music is too loud and we do not have to hear it until 2 o’clock in the morning, there’s some people who can’t sleep because they’re not well, so the music keeps them awake,” Jordan said.

The information resceived during calls will remain anonymous and will not be stored for any purpose.
