SISD offering free evening meals for children this school year

The Socorro Independent School District will offer free supper meals at six Team SISD campuses this school year.

It will benefit students ages 1-18 starting Sept. 5 until the end of the 2017-2018 school year.

The program is part of the Child and Adult Care Food Program and administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture.

The supper meal program will be offered from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday at Eastlake and Socorro high schools.

Bill Sybert, Ernesto Serna, Capt. Walter E. Clarke and Mission Ridge will offer supper meals from 3:15 to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

Children must simply show up, sign in and eat their food in the cafeteria. Carry-out meals will not be allowed due to program regulations.

Team SISD provides free universal breakfast for all high school students, free breakfast in the classroom for all elementary and middle school students, free-lunch meals at seven campuses as part of the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) and a free after-school snack for WIN Academy students.
