El Paso Electric crews assist Floridians in restoring power

El Paso Electric crews are assisting in restoring power to Florida after several hundred thousand residents were left without power due to outages caused by Hurricane Irma this weekend.

Bucket and boom trucks from El Paso Electric drove to Lake City Florida this weekend where they will be assigned to areas around the state.

Electric company employees including 15 linemen, two safety representatives along with material and mechanic service personnel flew out this morning to assist Florida Power & Light in restoring power to the Sunshine state.

The workforce of more than 18,000 electric service personnel from nearly 30 states will begin work today.

At this time, EPE does not know how long assistance will be needed.
