Sweet Play of the Week winner for week two: Nate Lasyone of Clint

Clint running back Nate Lasyone scored on a touchdown run of 89 yards in the team’s victory over Santa Teresa on Friday.

But he also scored a Sweet Play of the Week cake sponsored by Southwest University for his efforts. Fans voted on KVIA.com and determined he had the best play from week two. (Check out the video above to see the play).

Lasyone appeared as if he would be stopped at the line of scrimmage when he was surrounded by defenders. But he quickly emerged out of the pack and was off to the races.

“I didn’t really know what was going on at the moment. But as soon as I saw the hole, I just took off,” he said.

Lasyone’s touchdown run helped the Lions improve to 2-0 on the season. Clint will next host Austin on Friday, Sept. 15.

Lasyone says that he could not have done it, however, without some great blocking from his offensive line.

“You know, my linemen came out to block for me,” he said. I knew they would block for me, and I just got around the players and popped out of the hole and ran all the way.”

Don’t forget to catch the Borderland Blitz this Friday at 10:35 p.m., right after ABC-7 at 10.
