Water line break in Horizon City

Crews are working to repair a broken water line in Horizon City.

The Horizon City website has an alert listed on its homepage stating that residents near Desert Hills Elementary School may be without water service.

The school is located at 300 N. Kenazo Avenue, near Lago Seco Drive in Horizon.

The municipality’s website also said it is unknown how long the water will be shut off and that the Horizon Regional Municipal Utility District “is working to restore service as quickly as possible.”

The utility district’s website does not list when the break occurred or when water service became disrupted, but that water will be turned on as soon as possible. “Please be patient,” the statement concluded.

Neither website stated how many customers are without water, and a call to the contact phone number listed went unanswered Thursday morning.

The utility serves all of Horizon, which had a population of 19,266 as of 2016, according to the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The ABC-7 ‘Round the Clock crew is on the scene to monitor construction progress and whether it will affect traffic during the morning rush hour. Watch Good Morning El Paso for updates from 4:30-7:00 a.m.
