Update: Woman struck by train in downtown El Paso, victim trespassing on Union Pacific property

A woman is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, after being struck by a train in Central El Paso.

Investigators say 33-year-old Tara Ditlevson was hit around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. Investigators say the crew on the train saw woman lying on the tracks, but could not stop the train in time.

Ditlevson was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Officials say Ditlevson was trespassing on Union Pacific property at the time of the collision.

Original: El Paso police are investigating an incident in downtown where a woman was struck by a train..

It happened at around 5 a.m. Saturday morning on railroad tracks behind the El Paso Civic Center.

Emergency dispatchers told ABC-7 the female pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators were still on the scene early Saturday morning trying to determine how the victim was hit by the train .
