LCPD: Patient assaulted health care workers at hospital

Police arrested a man accused of assaulting two health care workers while receiving treatment at Memorial Medical Center.

Andrew Scribner, 34, is charged with two fourth-degree felony counts of Battery Upon a Health Care Worker and a misdemeanor count of Assault on a Health Care Worker.

Las Cruces police officers were dispatched to Memorial Medical Center shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2017.

The officers learned Scribner became belligerent with hospital staff while receiving treatment.

Scribner allegedly placed one staffer in a headlock and then kicked the man. Scribner allegedly punched a second health care worker who attempted to restrain him.

The hospital staffers suffered minor injuries, police said.

Scribner was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center, where he is initially being held without bond.
