Del Valle duo wins Sweet Play of the Week

The Del Valle Conquistadores have been on a roll lately, outscoring opponents 69-0 over their last two games.

But their hot streak continued Wednesday with a pair of Del Valle teammates winning the Sweet Play of the Week sponsored by Southwest University.

Quarterback Isaiah Villarreal launched a deep pass to Karch Gardiner Friday in the team’s game versus Ysleta. Gardiner made a great play on the ball then put the ball in one hand before racing to the end zone.

Del Valle went on to cruise to a 41-0 victory over their rival.

The Del Valle duo won the fan vote for Sweet Play of the Week by a single vote in the closest race to date.

The Conquistadores now turn their attention to the Borderland Blitz Game of the Week at Canutillo on Friday. They have a chance to move to 3-0 in district play with a win over the Eagles.
