Man allegedly threw his step-son to the floor and kicked him

A Las Cruces man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly threw his step-son to the floor and kicked him.

Jason Dams, 31, of the 2500 block of Tierra Grande Court, is charged with one third-degree felony count of child abuse.

The incident happened on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Police say that Dams was home with his 11-year-old step-son when he allegedly told the boy to turn off his Xbox. The boy allegedly took his time doing so and that is when Dams grabbed the boy’s arm and threw him to the floor. Police went on to say that Dams allegedly kicked the boy’s back while he was on the floor.

The boy’s injuries were relatively minor.

Dams was arrested Wednesday afternoon and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he’s initially being held without bond.
