Double-slaying suspect from Indiana found in El Paso; found traveling with Church outreach group

A Indiana fugitive wanted in connection with a double murder was found hiding with a Church Outreach Group in El Paso, said the U.S. Marshals Service.

Mingo Thames, 48, was arrested without incident Thursday morning by members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.

Authorities say Thames had been wanted since May when he was one of two men named in a warrant accusing him of being involved in the deadly shooting of two men April 20. Maurice Turentine, another suspect in that murder, was arrested May 5 in Indiana.

Thames was believed to have been traveling the country with an Imperial County, California-based church outreach group.

Authorities tracked the group to El Paso. In September, authorities got word the group was staying at a home on the 3300 block of East Glen in East El Paso. The group was placed under surveillance and Thames was spotted.

Officials say he was arrested Thursday without incident.

He was jailed and booked at the El Paso County Detention Center and is awaiting extradition to Indianapolis.
