El Paso police identified victim killed in Saturday night car crash

El Paso police have identified the person killed in a two car collision
Saturday night in east El Paso.

Investigators say 37 year old Michael Figueroa was driving a 2013 Nissan Altima and attempted a left turn onto Zaragoza from a parking lot. At the same time a 2000 Toyota 4Runner driven by 52 year old Marcela Ochoa was northbound on Zaragoza and struck the Altima.as it attempted to turn onto Zaragoza.

The impact injured 92 year old Maria Figueroa. She was taken to Del Sol Hospital where she died a short time later.

The driver of the 4Runner and four passengers inside received minor injuries.

At this time Special Traffic Investigators have determined the driver of the Altima, Michael Figueroa, failed to Yield the Right of Way.

This is the 49th traffic fatality of the year compared to 61 fatalities at the same time last year.
