Human remains found in Las Cruces remain unidentified

Police are still trying to identify human remains that were found in Las Cruces last month.

According to police, the human remains were discovered by a hiker at about 10 am on December 10 in an undeveloped area off Rinconada Boulevard. Investigators said they are not sure if foul play was involved or how long the remains were in the area. The gender or age of the individual have yet to be identified.

Las Cruces police released photos of evidence found near the remains, which included five pieces of jewelry, the label from a coat, a pair of sunglasses and a small piece paper with writing on it. Investigators are hoping someone can recognize the items.

Las Cruces Crime Stoppers are rewarding up to $2,000 to anyone who can help identify the remains. Crimes stoppers can be contacted at 1-800-222-8477.
