UPDATE: 3-year-old girl kidnapped in Sunland Park returned to father

Sunland Park police have confirmed with ABC-7 that 3-year-old Victoria Rodriguez has been returned safe to her father after she was reported kidnapped Sunday morning.

Police say the girl’s aunt, 31-year-old Natalia Figueroa broke into the home and took her. Natalia faces burglary and kidnapping charges. Figueroa has still not been located.

Police say an unknown cousin also assisted in the kidnapping.

Police say the girl was under the care of her father at the time. Officials say the girl’s aunt also took care of the girl before for about six months.

Police say they were in contact with new Mexico State Police to issue an Amber Alert but the case did not qualify for one. Police is working with U.S Customs and Border Protection to locate the girl.
