Westside Natatorium prepares for grand opening

Swimmers across the borderland will soon able to jump in the water at the Westside Natatorium.

Tuesday evening, ABC-7 got an exclusive look at the state-of-the-art facility.

Officials showed off several activities that the pool will hold, including water polo and yoga classes on the water. A Wibit – which is an inflatable obstacle course – will also be available for the public to enjoy once the Olympic sized swimming pool opens.

The Westside Natatorium is part of the 2012 Quality of Life Bond Program. It took about a year and half and $15.5 million to complete the project.

It was designed to meet United States of America Swimming (USAS) standards for competitions, and Leadership in energy and environmental design (LEED) Silver standards.

The natatorium will open on Saturday, April 7.

A ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. and a USA Swimming competition will also be held throughout the day. Free food, music, and giveaways will be provided for the public.

The Westside Natatorium is located at 650 Wallenberg Drive off Mesa Hills.
