El Pasoans celebrate 40th Annual Northeaster Parade

Saturday was the 40th annual Northeaster Parade. El Paso County Sheriff Richard D. Wiles was the grand marshal.

The theme was “First Responders “R” Super Heroes”. Sheriff Wiles has served his community as a Firefighter, Patrol Officer, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief, Interim Chief of Police, Chief of Police and now as El Paso County Sheriff.

The parade was at the intersection of Hercules Ave. and Diana Dr. and ended at the Northpark Mall at the intersection of Dyer St. and Diana Dr.

For many, the parade is a family tradition.

“We’re a northeast family and proud of it,” Terry Avalos said. “Even for our loved ones that have passed away it’s just super important for us to be here because we know that’s the tradition that they started.”

Avalos said she plans on passing the tradition down to the younger generations.

“Now we’re bringing in this great grand daughter of my father-in-law who would’ve just been so thrilled to know that she was here today,” Avalos said.
