Abie Han’s return to the ring ends in defeat

Abie Han’s return to the ring didn’t quite go according to plan Saturday night at the Don Haskins Center.

Despite having the home crowd advantage and lasting all 10 rounds against his opponent, Anthony Dirrell, Han lost the fight by a unanimous decision.

Dirrell controlled the entire fight from start to finish.

Han threw 408 punches, but only landed 73.

Dirrell on the other hand was dominate, throwing 543 punches and landing 205.

Han saying after the fight that the weight difference between him and Dirrell was a factor in the outcome of the match.

“I went into the ring probably at 172 and he was probably at 190,” Han said. “You could see the big weight difference in the fight, but no excuses, the better man won and I got to figure out what to do if I’m going to fight people like this in the ring next time.”

Han’s record now stands at 26-4-1.

Dirrell improves his record to 32-1-1.

In the main event of Saturday’s card, Josesito Lopez defeated Miguel Cruz.

It was Cruz’s first loss of his career.
