El Paso hosts Mother’s Day concert at Album Park
With gorgeous weather, the City of El Paso hosted a Mother’s Day celebration at Album Park on Sunday.
“They brought us into this world,” said Esperanza Yee, the city’s Recreation Programs Supervisor. “It’s just a way for the Parks and Recreation department to tell them thank you, to show them our appreciation.”
Mothers, grandmothers and children of all ages filled the park, off Album Avenue and Yarbrough Drive.
“They’re the greatest,” said Shirley Burciaga. “Mothers are always there for you.”
“Many people don’t have mothers,” said her young daughter, Melody, who was grateful to attend with Burciaga.
There was a special performance by at 7 p.m. by Los Silver de Juarez. Many mothers had been listening to the band for decades.
“It’s a wonderful day to have just for the mothers,” said Irma Carver, who has two children. “They gave their lives for us.”
