Sheriff’s Office identifies alleged kidnapper arrested on I-10

State police officers in El Paso arrested a man suspected of kidnapping in West Texas.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office identified the alleged kidnapper as Mark Morris Weiss, 50.

At approximately 11:23 a.m. on Monday May 14, 2018, the Culberson County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Texas Department of Public Safety to ask for help locating a vehicle involved in a possible kidnapping.

At approximately 12:34 p.m., a DPS aircraft located the suspect vehicle westbound on I-10 in El Paso.

State police officers pulled the vehicle over on the westbound shoulder of I-10 and Cotton Street. DPS officials said the vehicle was occupied by a male driver and a female occupant.

Texas Rangers later corroborated the initial information of a kidnapping and the driver was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Kidnapping.

DPS said Texas Rangers are still investigating. The suspect was not identified by DPS.
