Two El Pasoans selected in the MLB Draft Wednesday
A former Eastlake star and a senior at Americas both heard their names called Wednesday on day three of the MLB Draft.
Daniel Wasinger, a former catcher at Eastlake, was selected in the 31st round by the Arizona Diamondbacks as the 939th overall player taken.
Wasinger played college baseball at Southeastern Louisiana University after his time at Eastlake.
The Boston Red Sox would later select Adrian Torres, a senior outfielder from Americas, in the 33rd round.
Torres was the 1,000th pick exactly in this year’s draft, which consists of a total of 40 rounds.
On Tuesday, NMSU pitcher Kyle Bradish was selected in the fourth round by the Los Angels Angels. Bradish became the highest-drafted player in NMSU program history. He is originally from Goodyear, Arizona.
