Alamogordo man accused of sexually assaulting 4-year-old girl

A grand jury in Otero County has charged an Alamogordo man accused of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl afflicted with a disability.

Jason Whitt, 21, is alleged to have sexually assaulted the girl while he was a guest at her house in Alamogordo. The alleged assault occurred on June 2, 2018.

The child’s mother told police she began searching for the girl when she could not find her in her bedroom. The girl’s uncle also began to search for her, checking the bathroom. He discovered the door locked, with Whitt inside, claiming to be using the facilities.

The parents and uncle continued to search for the girl and found her in her bedroom a few minutes later, where she told them about the alleged sexual assault by Whitt.

The Alamogordo Police Department responded and arrested Whitt.

Whitt has been charged with Criminal Penetration of a Minor, Kidnapping, and Criminal Sexual Contact of a Minor according to Twelfth Judicial District Attorney John P. Sugg.

Whitt is being held without bond pending trial and could face up to 87 years in prison.
