Jack White to perform in El Paso
Jack White, a Grammy-winning singer and guitarist behind the iconic song “Seven Nation Army,” will be taking over the El Paso County Coliseum in September.
White will be performing on Sept. 19.
The commission said in a news release that White’s concert will be a phone-free show. Fans’ phones and other photo or video-capturing equipment and gizmos, including watches, will be secured in a “locked” Yondr pouch, which fans keep with them, but can only be unlocked in designated areas.
An official tour photographer will capture the concert for fans, who are invited to share photos and videos that will be posted on jackwhiteiii.com and @officialjackwhitelive on Instagram.
White was quoted in a recent interview as saying, “I want people to live in the moment. If your phone is that important to you that you can’t live without it for two hours then I don’t know.”
White hit the music scene with the White Stripes in 1997, but it was in 2003 when the duo’s release “Elephant” hit No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and earned a Grammy Award nomination for Album of the Year and a win for Best Alternative Music Album, as well as a win for Best Rock Song for the mega-hit “Seven Nation Army.”
White, nominated 33 times, won 12 Grammys for his work with the White Stripes, Raconteurs and as a solo artist.
Tickets will go on sale on Friday at the El Paso County Coliseum Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 800-745-3000 and online at ticketmaster.com.
A special presale will get underway Thursday, June 21, according to the El Paso Sports Commission.
