BREAKING: Deadly head-on collision on I-10 in Ft. Hancock
The Department of Public Safety confirmed Thursday morning a head-on collision on Interstate 10 (mile marker 68), in Fort Hancock, killed two people.
Lt. Elizabeth Carter told ABC-7 a passenger vehicle was traveling east on I-10 and for an “unkown reason” ended up on the westbound lanes and crashed into a semi truck traveling west.
The passengers in the vehicle died at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to Del Sol Medical Center with minor injuries and has since been released.
The crash happened at about 2 a.m., forcing the closure of I-10 in Tornillo.
I-10 reopened just before 7 a.m.
